E-Scooters on Campus
At the end of 2026, the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg will provide station-based e-scooters (operated by Voi). Four parking spots will be installed on the campus, three around the tram stations Gareisstraße, Walter-Rathenau-Straße and Pfälzer Straße and one near building 40. E-scooters can be rented and returned at these fixed points. This prevents scooters from being parked at arbitrary locations and improves connections to public transport on the first and last mile. The IMR developed the concept and adapted the city's E-Scooter-regulations to the conditions of a semi-public area.
"With the designated stations, an important aspect of the university's mobility concept is implemented on the campus. We organize micromobility on the campus and connect it to regular public transport. At the same time, the campus works as a living lab for the IMR, where we investigate the transfer possibilities of such solutions and how transport and mobility works in smaller areas with set boundaries." - Dr. Leander Kauschke, IMR
